HELLOOOOOOOOOOOO, TOKUSATSU FANDOM!
This year has been a heck of a ride. With another year under our belts, The Monkie Grid has been able to keep afloat. Not without the help of you, our readers and listeners, of course.
This year started out well and turned into a temultuous mess, to say the least. I lost my job due to workplace closure, panicked, found a new job, learned…and grew. There came a moment when I thought it best to remove myself from the fandom eye and essentially close The Monkie Grid and stop podcasting.
I learned that this was not the answer and came back. I grew to understand that not all of you would come back, and those of you who stayed have made the learning process very educational. And I thank you for that.
Anyway, enough about me. The Monkie Grid hasn’t seen much activity since my comeback, and I apologize for that. 2016 will see a slew of new content along with #DJMonkieRanger. I think you’ll like it!
For your enjoyment, I’ve included a playlist of the introductional and promotional antics of #DJMonkieRanger in 2015!
See you in 2016!
HELLOOOOOOOOO TOKUSATSU FANDOM!
So I believe the airwaves have been silent enough, bereft of my sultry voice. I believe it’s now time to prepare a comeback in earnest.
Hey there, Ranger heads;
It’s been a wild ride, but at some point, things must come to an end, if even temporarily.
I’ve decided that it’s time to shutter The Monkie Grid. It won’t be forever, but at least for the time being. I’ve stumbled a bit on my personal path, and it’s affected some people who I never intended to involve. Some emotionally, others financially.
Unfortunately, intent is one thing, but execution is a whole different beast altogether. So, I need to reel back and re-assess my priorities. It’s never a fun thing, to look inward, but there are times where it must be done. The way I am now, I feel I really don’t deserve to be among the ranks of fine folks who help bring you all the news and coverage that you see and love. Maybe I’ll get back to a point where I feel otherwise. Who knows.
I’ll be throwing together one final recording for the road, which will help promote the guests of this year’s Rangerstop. After that point, I’ll be spending the next week changing visual images around. I won’t be shutting down any pages or sites, as I do plan to return, but I’ve come to learn that things don’t always go your way when you plan ahead.
So keep it live with that funky-fresh henshin beat, and once more, with feeling;
It’s Morphin Time!
Lee Roberts a.k.a. DJ MonkieRanger
With the announcement of Boom! Studios’ partnership with Saban Brands to create a new Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers comic book series, Ranger fans have been wondering why this information was released by Entertainment Weekly and The Hollywood Reporter and not Saban’s own hand-picked Power Force.
Read on after the jump.
Out of curiosity, and the fact that this is the first time these figures have never seen the light of day in a remotely screen-accurate form until now, I decided to nab a Black Ranger figure from Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers: The Movie. After the jump, check out how this figure rates as far as action figures go.
I’ll just get right down to it. There’s a big issue in the Tokusatsu fandom and it isn’t toy prices.
HELLOOOOOOOOOO TOKUSATSU FANDOM! DJ MonkieRanger here to give you a taste of my thoughts on the first episode of Power Rangers Dino Charge! Yes, yes, I know. “But MonkieRanger, you’re like two weeks late!” Unfortunately, life demands attention, and as such, other endeavors take a back seat. BUT, that’s why I’m here now! To let you all know that I’m not going anywhere, and although I may be a little less chatty, that doesn’t make me any less present!
Anyway, without further ado, LET’S REVIEWING!
