As much a mystery as anything for quite some time, most of what we knew about this project came from vague hints dropped by director Joseph Kahn and actress Katee Sackhoff as well as clues uncovered by the fandom’s very own Nightmere10 of The Power Scoop.
Meant to be a deconstructed, darker, cyberpunk-esque take on Power Rangers, this VFX-heavy masterpiece takes the world of Power Rangers and puts it on its head with a design and skill of that which is more often seen in a film with a large budget.
Many kudos to Mr. Kahn, Katee Sackhoff, and the entire crew behind this project, and we applaud you for such a surprise kept well-hidden!

After becoming widely lauded throughout the fandom, it should be no surprise that The Ranger, starring and written by Matt Jayson, will be getting a second installation!
Taking place after the first episode, Matt had this to say on the upcoming project:
Well, the fans really took to the first one and I was very moved by the outpouring of fans I met at Power Morphicon. Myself and the director were only going to do one and done. I was worried I wouldn’t be able to top the first one, the director was looking out for me saying that it could typecast me in Hollywood.
We both wanted to keep making movies. I wanted to develop Ranger into a series, he suggested I move on to other things.
We came to an agreement to make another film featuring Jason, but not have it necessarily be an MMPR film. That being said, this film still does take place after the events of the first film.
What I want to convey is that when enough fans get together, anything can happen.
Keep a weather eye on The Monkie Grid this Spring, because when it releases, we’ll be posting it right here!
Curious about the first installation of The Ranger? Check it out here in our article!

Releasing a day early, the trailer for Zordon of Eltar is now online! And after you watch the video, check out their Facebook page linked below and tell them The Monkie Grid sent you!
You can see in the trailer a number of homages to the original series, as the movie follows a young Zordon long before his cultivation of a certain five “overbearing and overemotional human beings”. See how many characters YOU recognize just in the trailer alone!
An overnight sensation, The Ranger seemingly the story of a down-on-his-luck former soldier who is called upon to return to active duty. Lo and behold, it turns out that this disheveled veteran is none other than Jason, the (now former) Mighty Morphin’ Red Ranger.
Cisco Davis, Jr, the man behind the magic that is Zordon of Eltar, has given a video update on the supplimental project, Teenagers With Attitude, which was originally a Kickstarter stretch goal during Zordon‘s campaign.
The folks behind MMPR have been hard at work finishing up Episode One of their filming project. Actress Dina Cataldi (MMPR Blue Ranger) and Executive Producer Mack Khur take time to explain some of the matters behind Episode One’s release. Following suit is new, exclusive footage featuring Dina Cataldi encountering the Silver Guardians.
Fresh from PR Unreleased comes a new fan intro for what could have been the U.S. adaptation of the Super Sentai team-up movie, Tensou Sentai Goseiger vs. Shinkenger: Epic on Ginmaku.
The sad part is that we may never see a U.S. adaptation of this movie, but at least we can sit and revel in what could have been with this epic-level fan intro!
Here at The Monkie Grid, we love to support fan projects in the way we know best: Exposure.
This week’s Fan Art Friday features a talented artist who is both a concept artist and Lead 3D Artist on the fan project “Zordon of Eltar: A Power Rangers Fan Film”, Demone Amerson!
Check out his amazing work after the jump!
Of course, we at The Monkie Grid love to help bring fan projects to light, and thus, after seeing it on RangerCrew, we just HAD to share this teaser trailer with you all!
Zordon of Eltar is a fan film that takes place long before the Power Rangers of Angel Grove were a glint in their daddy’s daddy’s daddy’s eye, focusing on the origins of Zordon and his fight against Rita Repulsa. Currently in development, this trailer signifies the great deal of progress that has been made since the project’s beginnings.
Cisco Davis, Jr., the fan film’s creator, has made it clear that he wants to create a film that not only expands on a time not covered, but also stay true to what already exists.
This project also now has a Kickstarter! Check it out here: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ciscodavisjr/zordon-of-eltar-a-power-rangers-fan-film
